Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Trailer Reveals Details!

It’s almost time to explore Middle-earth on Amazon Prime Video. The latest Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Trailer reveals key details about what fans should expect from the upcoming series. However, while all seems at peace in the lands, a slow gathering storm looks to threaten and lay all to waste. This is the latest trailer for the new Lord of the Rings series on Prime Video. Additionally, the first season of “The Rings of Power” will premier on September 2nd 2022. However, a second season has already been ordered as well.

The latest trailer mainly focuses on two of the main characters, Elrond (Robert Aramayo) and Galadriel (Morfydd Clark). Of course these characters also appear in Peter Jackson’s “The Lord of the Rings” film trilogy from the early 2000s. However, the two characters seem at odds over the apparent looming shadowy enemy. It’s clear Galadriel has seem some dark stuff, especially as we get a very brief glimpse of death and destruction that she has witnessed. Watch the teaser trailer below.

    What Is The Story?

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Trailer does not really help those unfamiliar with the story. Of course, this series is thousands of years before the events of “The Hobbit” and “The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring”. However, it does give a rather healthy showcase of the world of Middle Earth. Showcasing all the different realms of the world that the series will depict. Personally, I think the underground Dwarven kingdom of Khazad-dûm is my favourite right now.

Now hard-core Tolkien fans have an easier ride ahead of them. This would be because “The Rings of Power” is based on supplementary material created by the author to flesh out the world and history of Middle-earth. The Second Age will cover the rise of the dark lord, Sauron. Additionally, it will cover the creation of the titular rings, the subsequent fall of Númenor and many events that took place over the course of Tolkien’s timeline.

A Fresh Look At The Characters!

While the Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Trailer gives us fresh looks at both Elrond and Galadriel, we’ve got glimpses of the full cast. The full cast of the series includes the following. Maxim Baldry, Owain Arthur, Nazanin Boniadi, Ismael Cruz Córdova, Charles Edwards, Lenny Henry, Markella Kavenagh, Simon Merrells, Tyroe Muhafidin, Sophia Nomvete, Megan Richards, Charlie Vickers, Benjamin Walker, Daniel Weyman, Dylan Smith and Sara Zwangobani.

Head of Amazon Studios Jennifer Salke stated in 2018 that the series would not be a remake of the films. However, they did seek to bring back some characters from them. Therefore we’ve, of course, got to focus on Elrond, because why not? We’re bound to learn more about some of the new characters in the upcoming San Diego Comic-Con presentation. Adventure awaits as The Rings of Power lands at Hall H on July 22nd at 10:30am PT. Additionally, cast members such as Morfydd Clark, Charles Edwards, Rob Aramayo, Benjamin Walker and Ismael Cruz Córdova will be present.

    Conclusion

You might be surprised to learn that Amazon Studios have been developing “The Rings of Power” since 2017, spending around $250 million to purchase the rights for the series. Therefore, this likely makes the series one of the most expensive shows in history. It’s been reported that Amazon Prime Video spent roughly $256 million on the eight-episode first season. But the Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Trailer does look fantastic, so maybe it was worth it? We’ll wait and see.

“The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” was developed for Amazon by showrunners J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay, who serve as executive produce with Lindsey Weber, Callum Greene, J.A. Bayona, Belén Atienza, Justin Doble, Jason Cahill, Gennifer Hutchison, Bruce Richmond and Sharon Tal Yguado. Ron Ames and Christopher Newman produce. The series is directed by Bayona, Wayne Che Yip and Charlotte Brändström.

The first season of “The Rings of Power” will premiere on September 2 via Amazon Prime Video. A second season has already been ordered. Watch the trailer below.
