Rosario Dawson is stepping into the role of Ahsoka Tano once again. Her first live-action appearance in The Mandalorian in 2020 was met with immense fanfare. Therefore, the subsequent anticipation for her standalone series has been palpable. Today, Disney and Lucasfilm released new Ahsoka Series Character Posters. These posters give a high-quality look at the main cast of the series. Ahsoka is set to debut on Disney+ on August 23, 2023, with a two-episode premiere. It also marks Rosario Dawson as the first woman to lead a live-action Star Wars series.
Ahsoka Tano’s journey has been a galactic saga spanning over 15 years. She first entered the Star Wars universe in the 2008 animated film The Clone Wars, voiced by Ashley Eckstein. Ahsoka is not alone in her quest. The series features a robust supporting cast, including characters like Sabine Wren, played by Natasha Liu Bordizzo. Sabine, a fan-favourite character from Rebels, has picked up Ezra Bridger’s old green lightsaber.
The pair are joined by Hera Syndulla—the Twi’lek captain who pilots the Ghost starship. Mary Elizabeth Winstead was drawn to Hera’s combination of strength and nurturing qualities, which stand out in a universe often dominated by masculine figures.
The Villains Reveal Themselves!
The Ahsoka Series Character Posters reveal who is Hunting Ahsoka! These are the red-lightsaber-wielding Baylan Skoll (played by the late Ray Stevenson) and his apprentice Shin Hati, played by Ivanna Sakhno. Shin is described as very calculated but also a seeker who is just beginning to find her own voice. Diana Lee Inosanto reprises her role from The Mandalorian as the powerful Magistrate Morgan Elsbeth. As revealed by The Mandalorian’s second season, Elsbeth is a servant of Grand Admiral Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen).
While the Ahsoka Series Character Posters reveal the series’ villains, Thrawn does not have one yet. The character has been a staple of Star Wars lore, known for his strategic brilliance and unwavering ruthlessness. Mikkelsen was practically fan cast into the role by the Star Wars community and was officially revealed as Thrawn at Star Wars Celebration London 2023. He has been seen in a trailer, but only in two shots and not doing much. Fans have yet to hear him speak properly.
