The Mandalorian Season 3 Setting Up Big Stakes!

Following the season end of Star Wars: Andor, we’re waiting for The Mandalorian. Sure, Andor was a refreshing change. However, the storyline of Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and Grogu still has our attention. Disney+ has revealed it’s setting up big stakes for The Mandalorian Season 3. Recently released synopsis hints towards what we can expect to see in the upcoming season.

The journeys of the Mandalorian through the Star Wars galaxy continue. Once a lone bounty hunter, Din Djarin has reunited with Grogu. Meanwhile, the New Republic struggles to lead the galaxy away from its dark history. The Mandalorian will cross paths with old allies and make new enemies as he and Grogu continue their journey together.

The Mandalorian Season 3 & The New Republic

The Mandalorian has shown us The New Republic since season one. Well, at least little bits of the organization. This is the successor state to the Rebel Alliance. However, we have seen that they are just about getting through. Therefore, seeing more of them is expected in the third season. Especially if we consider the ending of the second season. Din Djarin and friends basically handed them Moff Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito). However, this was thanks to Luke Skywalker’s (Mark Hamill) timely arrival.

The trailer for The Mandalorian Season 3 has revealed Doctor Pershing (Omid Abtahi). Based on his surroundings, it appears Gideon’s scientist is in New Republic custody. But what is weirder is another connection. If you think back to the second season, a young female officer was working for Gideon. While it was presumed she was killed during the attack, she survived. If you look closely, you can see the character walking alongside Pershing in this rather Republic-looking base. What are the pair up to?

Thinking about it, could we get a certain cameo? The New Republic Head of State was Mon Mothma. Before others eventually succeeded her. However, Andor gave us more of the character thanks to Genevieve O’Reilly. Perhaps this could be a good time for the character to cameo, especially as we see more of the New Republic. It really depends on the route Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni want to take with the series. But I would not say no to seeing more of Mon Mothma!

New Enemies For The Mandalorian Season 3

The season synopsis hints at new enemies. However, this could lead people astray. For example, we know that Bo-Katan Kryze (Katee Sackhoff) is not a big fan of Din Djarin in The Mandalorian Season 3. This is made clear via the trailer for the upcoming season. Given Din claimed The Darksaber at the end of the second season, this is likely the problem between the pair. How this situation is resolved for the season will be a big focus.

Of course, Moff Gideon is back. While absent in the trailers so far, we’ve known that Gideon will be showing up somewhere. Giancarlo Esposito has hinted at what the Moff might be getting up to. There have also been rumours of Tie Fighters. Therefore, it suggests more of an Imperial presence in the third season. Something many of us has been looking forward to. Especially with the big discussion of Grand Admiral Thrawn’s appearance sometime soon. Likely in the Star Wars: Ahsoka series.

According to reports, Christopher Lloyd could appear in The Mandalorian Season 3. We’ve covered this in a dedicated YouTube video. However, the question comes down to who he might be playing. Given the direction of the Star Wars story right now, fans think the character of Jorus C’baoth is Lloyd’s character. Star Wars media has been setting up events that connect with Timothy Zahn’s “Heir to The Empire” novel. An example is Mount Tantiss appearing in The Bad Batch Season One.

    Looking To 2023!

While we wait for The Mandalorian Season 3, we’ve got Star Wars: The Bad Batch Season 2. The Clone Wars sequel airs on January 4th 2023, via Disney+. However, season 3 of The Mandalorian is set to air on March 1st 2023. Therefore, not long to go till we’ve got two Star Wars series airing simultaneously.
